That about sums up my week. Spent the better part of it, waiting. Standing by. Holding off. Waited for my turn at the clinic. Waited for my meds. Waited for directions on our new project. Waited for inspiration to strike. Waited for feedback from boss. Waited for all the info to sink in. Waited for words to make a coherent thought. All the waiting does make me feel a bit restless. Funny how when you’ve got nothing to do, that’s when you feel like you need to do something. Then when you do have something that needs to get done, you don’t want to do it at all. Did that make sense? Pardon me. I still at it. Still waiting, two hours past Friday. Waiting for layouts to take shape. Waiting for my ear to heal completely. Waiting for a few good hours of sleep. Waiting for the holiday ahead…Waiting…And waiting…

For the very first time, I took a shower with an earplug on. Felt weird but doctor’s orders. Keep ear dry. Apply ear drops and take antibiotics thrice a day. And if pain is unbearable, take ever-reliable Panadol. Doc said, it’s Otitis, externa or media, am not sure. Thought it might be due to too much OT, well it’s not. Ear infection, just like I suspected. If I were in Manila, I’d probably be going to Mercury Drug, grab some amoxicillin and over-the-counter ear drops and I’d be good to go. I don’t think it works that way here so before my ear turned into a dried-up prune, I made my first ever visit to a medical clinic in Singapore. Service was very efficient and the whole process was quite painless. I just filled out a form, waited for any of the 6 or so doctors to call my name. After the consult, Doc wrote up the prescription, I brought it out to the dispensary, got my meds and then I was off. All in an hour’s time and $35 later. (For a moment there I actually lost my hearing). Well, not too bad. A day of antibiotics seems to be doing me good. And seeing a doctor really does give psychological relief. I just need to get used to the earplug. Sigh.
Pardon the early morning punning. My right ear has been itchy and painful for a couple of days now. Don’t know what started it. Just woke up one morning with this endless itch and pain when I tugged at my earlobe. Now it’s little stabbing pains going in and my ear feels inflamed, although I don’t see any redness. Argh. And my hearing is muffled too, went through an hour of Heroes, in mono. Yep, close to half deaf. On the upside, it means I’d only hear half of any bad news, tee hee hee. I could still laugh about it, but only when I type. The pain just gets worse when I smile and the muscles from my face to my ear get stretched. Time for Panadol. If symptoms persist, time for professional help.
